We have LOVED sharing our space with so many of you over the holidays. Thank you for sharing your special events with us. Our family has grown exponentially!

We will be closed from Sunday 12/21 through Saturday 12/27 so we may celebrate with our families and will return for our New Year's Eve fundraising extravaganza and hope to see you there.

Beginning January 2026 we will be reopening the cafe and moving the Boutique upstairs as we begin plans for the library. The cafe will feature a new menu and we will return to regular hours.  As usual, if we have a large event scheduled, we may be closed but we'll give you plenty of notice.

Thank you for your loyalty and support as we forge on with our mission of Saving The Club!!

THE RED CURTAIN REVIVAL

In 1882, the LLC in Grand Rapids became incorporated, with a mission to “promote literary, educational and scientific pursuits and to establish and maintain a library”. Through this mission they hosted hundreds of events, inviting people from the community and for the community, to convey their own artistic message.

There were lecturers, dancers, musicians, visual artists, scientists, scholars, teachers, students, stage performers, and presidents, all of whom graced the building and the stage with their contributions to the majestic artistic canvass that is Grand Rapids. It is in this spirit that the women and men of The Penny Loafer seeks to revive the mission of the original Ladies' Literary Club of Greater Grand Rapids.

As such, our doors are open to everyone who needs a beautiful space to do their work that reinforces civic duty and contributes to the betterment of our glorious community, by promoting education, literacy, civic duty, philanthropy, and a return to the history that brought us here.

We are The Lit by The Penny Loafer... Welcome home.
